There are two methods for moving your site from another web hosting company depending on their capabilites. One is if they use cPanel and the other is if they don't. If the existing hosting company uses cPanel, the user can log into cPanel and perform a System Backup. When the new account is ready, a restore from the system backup can be used. If the existing company does not use cPanel, the user should log into their current account using an FTP program and download their entire site to a local hard drive. The user should then backup all databases to a local file as well. Once the new account is created, they can reverse the process by logging into their new site with an FTP program and uploading the site to the new account and importing all of their databases to the new site as well. |
