How Do I Use Traceroute In Windows?
Traceroute is installed by default on all Later Windows Versions (2000,XP,ME,Vista,2008).
- In the Windows main menu, click on the 'Start' icon, and select 'Run...'.
- In the window that appears, enter 'cmd' without the quotes to open a command prompt window.
- In the command prompt window enter the command for traceroute: 'tracert [target_name]' again without the quotes and replace [target_name] with the domain name or ip address of the remote computer you wish to trace to.
Each time another machine is found along the way, you will see another line with the times it took to get there and back, and the ip address or host name of the machine that reported the time.
